In the 2023-2024 academic year the physics department began the process of revamping the core graduate curriculum. The statistical physics course was lightly reimagined, moving a bit away from some traditional topics in statistical mechanics to try to emphasize more broadly the way we connect thermodynamics and phenomenological studies of phases and phase transitions with statistical physics, both in mean field and renormalization group descriptions.
